The 5-Door Build: Inspired by a Classic DIY Setup
The idea behind my 5-door Jimny setup was years in the making – and it actually began with a much more compact canvas: my original 3-door Jimny JB74.
Back then, space was a premium, so I custom-designed and built a DIY rear drawer and camping setup that turned the tiny Jimny into a surprisingly capable overlanding rig. That build taught me a lot – not just about maximising function in small spaces, but also about what really matters when you're living out of your vehicle for days on end.
Fast forward to today, the 5-door Jimny has given us more room to play with, and I’ve taken all those years of trial and error and poured them into this new build. From sleeping arrangements and storage layout to electrical and usability on long trips – every detail is based on real-world experience, and it’s been amazing to see how far it’s come.
The goal? A clean, functional, and adventure-ready setup that anyone can be inspired by – whether you’re building out your first rig or just looking for smart ways to improve your own.
